Privacy & COPPA

The fine print, in bee language

Chess Bee is designed with children’s online privacy rules in mind — including the U.S. COPPA and comparable laws. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

What do we collect?
Only what you type in the registration form: parent/guardian name & email (and optional phone), child’s name, age and chess level, and any notes you add. That’s all — no location, no browsing history, no payments while using the free hive.
Why we collect it
To contact the parent (not the child), to place your child in the right beginner group, and to send progress updates. Under COPPA, children’s personal info requires parental consent — which is why the parent fills this form and ticks the consent box.
What we never do
We never sell or share your data, we don’t show ads to children, we don’t run behavioral tracking on kids, and we never connect your child with other users without supervision and consent.
Where data lives
The site is static — zero server-side storage. Registrations go straight to the Chess Bee team’s private Gmail inbox and a private, password-protected Google Sheet that only authorized staff can open.
How long we keep it
As long as your child is enrolled, plus a short grace period after. You can ask us to delete a record at any time — it takes one friendly email and we do it within 30 days.
Your rights
Parents may review, correct, or delete their child’s information at any time — just contact us. Under COPPA and similar laws, that request is honored promptly and without any fuss.
